    Yeah I'm back. Again, Still

Well, it's been awhile. I have had a strange year. Last December we bought a Bicycle Shop. Why is anyones guess. It's shall we say, interesting. Then 4 months later I messed up my left knee more. Now thats 2 knees that don't work. So the Doc said lets replace them and I (fool that I am.) said YES. Six months later things are looking up.We were to open a 2nd store in July but the builder-owner didn't get it done till the end of November. So here I am trying to get ready for X-mas ,open a store, and do baking and candy making. What a laugh. Hope everyone out there is well and ready for the holidays.

    Here we go again.

Well, here we are back at the begining. I'm hoome for about a week. I can't talk, something about a virus. You know how it goes.If you have never had this problem be thankful. I'm on this baby food type diet. Hot cereal, soup, yogurt, pudding etc. Nothing that will irritate my swollen throat. The worse part is not being able to talk. I babble away all the time. you can't hardly shut me up. Now I have to write everything talk? about a pain in the backside. Enough pity party.
Everything else is going pretty good. I miss work though. I've found I hate staying home. I even miss people calling to complain about the things they've screwed up. I have also missed writing this though. I have also missed reading. I have been able to catch up on some of that though. I have even discovered some new and interesting authors. I'll probally go into town tomarrow to get a couple more. The only other thing that was exciting  in my life was going to Denver the 6th of this month. My friend and I went to a Charming Tails event. It was a little corny but alot of fun besides  that I won more than I spent. I did win one that is really rare it's a hand blown glass bumble bee with a mouse riding it. The problem was it is a tree ornament and I do not use them for my X-mas tree. I gave it to my friend for her tree she was thrilled. the only thing is she has to give it back if she dies before me. There are only six of them out there. I do care alot for my friend Cheryl crazy as she is.
I hope everyone is doing well. Come by and say Hi sometime. Old Biddy

    BIRTHDAYS AND SUCH

Let me explain our family going ons in April,May, June and July. We have 4 mo of something. April and May being the worst of the 4 months. My mothers birthday is the 26th of April, my birthday is the 1st of May and then comes Mothers Day. All that in about 18 days this year. Then in June is Em's boyfriends birthday and Fathers Day, July 2nd is Em's birthday. So in a 4 month (less really) we have 6 things going on. November through January is just about as bad. My son's birthday is Nov. the 13th, then Thanksgiving,Christmas, New Years, and my husband's  birthday is January 30th.
Back to the point of the story. In order to make things easier (and not to have 2 cakes and mothers day dessert too.) We've combined my mothers birthday,my birthday and Mothers day into one.Makes sense right? Right. Next year I think I'm going to pull out. Not because birthdays bother me. Not because I want my own day but because My MOm beserves to have her own days. She'll be 80 next year and she'll have had 52 yrs. of motherhood under her belt. That's special! All Mom's are special believe me. I just happen to think mine deseves to have everyday special. My Dad died when I was 11 and she worked her skinney little back side off to raise me. I can only remeber once when she didn't go to work because she was sick. I was really a problem child (still am.) but she hung in there doing her best with many obsticles in her way. My Dads folks didn't help at all in fact they pitched right in to make it worse. Then being my Mom she helped raise my two and she'd do it all again. I wish I could go back and make it easier for her but........................ I am proud of Her and damn She does deserve the best! I would like for you all to have had my Mom she didn't bake cookies that were there after school but she painted the house inside and out, took care of the lawn, washed, cleaned, ironed, scrubbed and held down an 8 hr job without help for years. SHE"S SOMETHING SPECIAL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

To Mom's everywhere: GOD BLESS YOU!

    Late again

I do  want to say I'm sorry for being gone for so long but it seems like their isn't any time for anything any more. I've also missed alot on other blogs that I really would like to be part of. Between work and politics I've been so brain dead that I would have just ranted anyway. Does anyone listen to themselves anymore let alone the other guy? I was confused when the one of thr lagest minorities (?) demonstrated against the immigration laws that Congress was talking about. I honestly don't think of them as a minority anymore. And from what I have seen no political party does either. Why would anyone want to abet an illegal anything? Be it robbery, murderor anything else? Doesn't Illegal mean against the Law? My family and my hubby's had to have papers to get in to the USA and it's been 4 generations for me and 3 for my husband. Please explain when it became politically correct to support something illegal.
So much for that topic. to everyone hi and I have missed you take care until next time.

P.S. The Native Americans SHOULD have asked for Papers.

Just a observation and a couple of thoughts

    Happy New Year!!!!!!
I have a couple of thoughts that I came up with ( Yes, I can think at times) after taking some phone calls at work. The first one is about Medicare part D. I have 15 years to go before it becomes a problem for us, I am already scared to death over it. All I can do is pray that they get ALL the bugs worked out before that time comes. I have great doubts though. I'm sure any of you who either did enroll or had folks that had to enroll know what I'm talking about.
My other thought came after a series of complaints about a nationally known and respected newspaper out of New York City. It seems many people think that is a liberal, to the point of treason, paper. I did read some of it during my lunch break and I couldn't see what these people were thinking about. My only thought on it besides it was odd was that they let alot of people out of mental hospitals way to early. The thing was the calls came from all over the country. Did I miss something? If so please let me know. I know my children think I'm far, far away for even that middle line but the real truth is I straddle it most of the time. If it was that Liberal I'm sure even I would have noticed something.

    December 7th

For those of you who didn't know or forgot, today is Pearl Harbor Day. I realize that this happened decades ago but, every year I remember and it breaks my heart all over again. If you have never stood on the USS Arizona Memorial you probally have no idea what I'm talking about. If you ever get the chance please go. I went close to thirty years ago and the feeling I got standing there is still there today. It seems to tear your heart apart and swell your heart with pride all at the same time. Looking over into that beautiful blue water and seeing what remains of a battleship, knowing it now it seves as a grave for many men is a feeling all to it's self. Over 2,000 lives were lost that day. In just a few hours, America was torn apart. Sad to say many more lives were lost over the next few years. Another place to vist if your ever there is the Punch Bowl National Cemetary. It also is a very sad and eerie place. You have never heard Taps played until you've heard it played there. So here's to all the fallen of Pearl Harbor and WWII. God Bless them and may they rest in peace.

    A Caller

I have to share a call I recieved at work the other day. It is so silly we spent a half-hour laughing about it.

I was doing my little thing at work(answering phones. I make no phone calls.)when I recieved a call asking about a rep for a naional company. I did what I was suppose to. Hello my name is and can I have your zip code. The lady on the line told me her zip in a breathless-sex-kitten Hollywood type voice and then asked me if she could ask me a quick question. Being the nice (?) person I am I said yes and asked what the question was. "If I give you my address will you take your panties off right now and send them to me?". I asked if she would repeat that and she did. I then explained that I would find her a rep but I could not take calls of this sort and hung up. The great part is that I do have a bunch of younger people around me and it was slow so we were all sort of listening in on each other when we could. When they asked I told them and they all had much better ideas like, tell her to send a hundred to your house and you'll send the panties. To which I replied "I may be easy but I'm not cheap." Thank goodness they all take me as the Old Biddy and don't even think I meant it. It was good for a laugh though.

    Holiday Movies,Songs and Memories

I was over looking at blogitright.com and saw her blog for today on christmas movies etc. I also realized how much the times have changed. I remember movies like Holiday Inn, White Christmas and Miricle on 34th st. Stories that made you feel good. I remember ( this dates me)Bing Crosby singing White Christmas, I'll be home for Christmas,Holly,Jolly Christmas ,songs that made you feel good. Good will towards men and all the other nice cosy feeling of Christmas past. It was a time to feel good. I time to give not want. nDon't get me wrong there was plenty of Santa and sugar plums. I never got coal in my stocking even when I was bad. that came from love though. My parents loved me no matter how I looked;}  What is your favorite memory of Christmas? Is it Midnight Mass, A present that was special, Atype of candy just for the holidays. If you happen to be something other than Christian what was your favorite holiday memory? Please let me know. I'll tell all mine before Christmas.

What do you mean it's Friday?

I started my week on Sunday. Today as far as I'm concerned should be Saturday. I do wonder about this job. Here we are in Colorado and they run on EST time. That means according to the company I go to work at 4:00am and get off at 12:30pm. They some how want me to hook that up with the real time here (MST) and work it with EST and a week that starts on Wed. I am so confused!!!!!!!!!! Not that confusing me is hard to do in the first place. We start on our own so to speak on Sun. Please do not call any offers you see on T.V. Just as a favor to me. I have found most people that call have no idea what it is they are calling for, nor do they care. One of the companys we work for has a script that says the companys name at least three times. I took a call read the script, got the info and the guy started yelling at me about apples. He was trying to call Safeways. I have to say one of the nicest people I've talked to was a french canadian. She was very nice. If you do have to call one of those numbers on t.v. please remember that we HAVE TO read that script and we have to try to sell you things you don't want. Please put up with it. We're just doing our job. have a great weekend. Take care.

    The First Week

I'd rather play tennis thango to the dentist.
I'd rather play soccer than go yo the doctor.
I'd rather play Hurk than go to work.
    Hurk? Hurk? What is Hurk?
I don't know, but it must be better than work.
                         Shel Silverstein
From the book A Light in the Attic

I finish my first week at work and have decided I will stay until I'm fired or I find something else. I have been in "Training" Thats just what they want you to think. they are cramming a 15 day traing session into 11 days. Add to the fun stuff with the computer a trainer (Who talks 537 words per min.) and the fact my brain has NO idea what the *ell shes talking about and well, thats the way it is over half have dropped out (read quit)already. Like the above poem says I'd rather play hurk.

    Common Sense Obituary

Common Sense lived a long life
but died in the United States from heart faliure early in the new millennium.
No one really knows how old he was, since his birth records were lost long ago in bureaucratic red tape. He selflessly devoted his life to service in schools, hospitals, homes, and factories, helping folks get jobs done without fanfare and foolishness.
For decades, petty rules, silly laws, and frivolous lawsuits held no power over Common Sense. He was credited with cultivating such valued lessons as to know when to out of the rain, why the early bird gets the wormand that life isn't always fair. Common Sense lived by simple, sound financial policies(don't spend more than you earn), reliable parenting strategies(the parents are in charge, not the kids), and it's okay to come in second. A veteran of the Industrial Revolution, the Great Depression, and the Technological Revolution. Common Sense survived cultural and educational trends including body peercing, whole language and new math. But his heealth declined when he  became infected with the If-it only- helps-one- person-it's-worth-it viris.
In recent decades, his waning strength proved no match for the raveges of well intentioned but overbearing regulations. He watched in pain as good people became ruled by self-seeking lawyers. His hehealth rapidly deteriorated when schools endlessly implemented zero tolerence policies. Reports of a six-year old boy charged with sexual harassment for kissing a classmate, a teen suspended for taking a swig of mouthwash after lunch and a teacher fired for reprimanding an unruly student only worsened his condition. It declined even further when schools had to get parental consent to administer asprin but could not inform the parent when a female student became pregnant or wanted an abortion.
Common Sense lost his will to live as the Ten Commandments became contraband, churches became businesses, criminals recieved better treatment than victims and federal judges stuck their noses in everything from the Pledge of Allegiance to professional sports. When am Individual, to stupid to realize that a steaming cup of coffee was hot was awarded a huge settlement, Common Sense trew in the towel. As the end neared, Common Sense drifted in and out of logic but was kept informed of developments regarding questionable regulations such as those for low flow toilets, rocking chairs and auto emmisions. Common Sense finally succumbed when, while the United States was fighting the war on terrorism, a federal judge declared the Pledge of Allegiance to be unconstitutional.
Common Sense was preceded in death by his parents, Truth and Trust;his wife, Discretion; his daughter Responsibility;and his son Reason. He is survived by two step siblings: My Rights and Ima Whiner.

I have wanted to share this for awhile. I don't who the author is. I do bow to him/ her and thank them. Hope you enjoy it as much as I do.

    The Time has Come.......

Well, I finally found a job. Not one I really wanted but................ it is a job. I will try to keep this up at least 1 or 2 times a week. Please keep dropping by. I'm off on Tue. and Wed. so try on those days. I will miss all of you. At least it maybe a tad more interesting,we'll see. Take care. Sonny, jorge, mandy and of course my favorite Ms J.

    School Shooting

After yesterdays story on The Rumor, I came across a story on CNN of a school shooting. I know this is problem is becoming sort of old hat but, why? Back in the olden days shooting someone was something a kid did with a cap gun or their finger. What happened? I've heard that the shooters were bullied by the kids that were shot. Bullies have been around forever. Hell, I was bullied and I did not consider taking my dads gun to school and shooting anyone. The thought process wasn't even there. My question is to the younger readers that sometimes come to laugh at the Old Biddy and her ramblings, is what happened? When did such a stupid thought become reality? Is it the video games some people use as an excuse? Is it parenting in general? When the first shooting happened here in Colorado, I know that the blame was placed on the parents. Is it just one part of our society that teaches some kids that killing is the way to go? I have even heard that movies play a large part in this problem. The actors die and the next thing you know they're in another movie. They had movies that killed people off like that when I was growing up too. We still knew it wasn't real. I know kids aren't THAT stupid. So please help me understand, if nothing else why violence is becoming the way to take care of all lifes little problems.

    South Side Story

A strange and unusual thing happened at a local high school last week. A rumor started. In all honesty The Rumor started about two weeks ago. That fact makes The Rumor more ridiculous, since the incident that The Rumor was about only happened last week. The story such as it is involves two groups of kids who like two different types of music. We have the group that favors ICP (Insane Clown Posse) and a group of "emos"( I have no idea what kind of music this is or what band. If someone knows fill me in). A boy from "emos" pushed a girl from ICP and the ICP demanded an apology from "emos". The story goes on to say an eyewitness saw a ICP pull a knife. This child has been suspended and the boy emo that did the pushing was also disciplined. Here comes The Rumor: Large fight between the two groups with knifes, guns and killings. It got so out of hand that a majority of kids either went home early or didn't go to school at all. I realize that this is now a society that has had school killings before. I say better safe than sorry. I have several problems with this story. First, why  did the boy push the girl? Hasn't anyone taught the kid manners? Second, why care if someone doesn't like the same music (colors, clothes, etc.) that you do? Where is the respect? The last one is about the parents, like I said before I can understand their concerns for their children. I still have concerns. It's a parent thing. How many of these charming little ones stayed home or came home early just to get out of class? Parents, do you not remember the rumors of fights in your school days?Even back in the "land before time" we had knife fights and rumors of large gang fights. These parents are blaming the school for the problem. The school in my veiw did the best they could. Have the parents done the best they could

Little House on the Prairie-Oops make that Dessert

Here all this time I thought I lived in the prairie. Not anything like "Little House on the" but ,oh well, thats what we call it here. Prairie here is brown. It has weeds and very little water. We do have pinon trees and some bushes. It is brown though. In town however they have trees and gras and flowers. Real trees that have leaves that fall. Real flowers not plastic ones. Yes it's true some people out here "plant" fake flowers. We have high winds here (nothing to block the wind). We also have dirt, lots of dirt and dust. We also have terriffic dust storms. People have honestly lost there roofs out here. I don't care for it out here.Would I move back to town ? NO! I can clearly (on most nights) see the night sky. We have a lot of wild life that you don't see in town and best of all it's quiet. I can hear coyotes howl at night and the birds sing in the mornings except when the hawks are here. I can walk out on to my deck to have lunch somedays and be joined by a hawk with a mouse. I know that sounds awful but the hawk has to eat too. I walked out my front door earier this year and saw a owl take off with a rabbit and watched a deer walk across the road. I can watch the baby rabbits come out in the spring and summer. I can also watch my cats watch the rabbits and my dog chase them. (Don't worry. It's a game for them. My dog doesn't ever get close.) I complain about the drive into town.(14 miles).I complain about the dust. All in all though I 'd have a hard time leaving our little house.

Cutting the Deficit and Cutting Off Thumbs

It has come to my attention that Preident Bush has decided he has to reduce the deficit. Hmm, smart move there G.W. The question is now how, with all the money you have promised to give out for war, national disasters etc. are you proposing to do this great feat? You could I suppose start by say cutting down on weekend trips to TX. I know most of us don't get to take off for a weekend and fly a couple thousand miles or so on someone elses money. What about your salary? Could you cut that down a tad,you know kind of live like the rest of us who weren't born with a silver spoon? Please Sir, let us people know how this is going to get done. Curious minds need to know if this will come to pass or if it will end up just as a passing bit of more hot air.

VEGAS MAYOR SAYS OFF WITH THEIR THUMBS!
I loved this one. The story goes that Vegas put up a new noise barrier wall not to long ago and "Punks" are defaceing said wall with graffiti. Bad Children. The mayor believes that one of the solutions to this problem would be to cut off their thumbs on TV. Or maybe a whipping. How about just burning a large GA (graffiti artist) on their forhead? One man suggested that the Mayor start using his head for something other than a hat rack. I agree.

Bush, Alito and The Red Cross Gossip

I just read an item on Pres. Bush asking if his travels to South American were to get out of an embarassing situation. It seems that some of his party who are trying very hard to get elected don't want him around. The story suggests tat rather than be shunned by fellow republicans he's going to take of to visit other countries where he's not  real popular either. If that is the case I'm very sorry that everything is falling apart like this. Not good for anyone.
I'm still wondering about Alito. I heard last night on the news that he will vote in black in white no grey areas for him. To bad real life doesn't work that way.
My gossip ( and that is what it is) from a reliable source is that a Red Cross volunteer in NO is checking out houses down there for FEMA to see if they are safe and the goverment is paying him a large wage to do so. Like I said it is gossip but, I would like to know more about this one.
Thanks for stopping by and I'll see you all tomorrow.

    Thanks and Thoughts

First I need to say thanks to some friends for helping me out yesterday. I have been reading some blogs from the north side of the border(. spaces.msn.com/members/hazelton1 and spaces.msn.com/members/canadiancandymandy) Both of these sites have had news on Canadian politics lately and being as downhere in the USA we very seldom hear anything about Canada at all unless it's bad(avain flu), I wanted to know more. Zawm and Mandy thank you.To spaces.msn.com/members/thotman thank you for your wonderful stories on caring. To El Space Monkey, thank you for thinking about me on mandy's blog. To Sonny thanks for the Laughs. And to Ms J at blogitright.com for putting up with me. This is not the end of the list, there are so many more . You know who you are. I promise I will name names later.(cute sentance don't you think?) Again Thank You all.

My Thought ( yes, I finally had one)
We're back to politics again. (Sorry) As I watched the news the last few days I've noticed that it doesn't seem to matter what Is good for the United States of America (notice the united part) It is all about what kind of mess we can get the other side into. We are not united any longer. It is not a matter of whats good for the American people, it's what's best for MY Party and ME. Congress in all it's wonder would Not give up it's Pork to help the victims of  Katrina,Rita or Wilma. Why should they? They aren't out of a job or in most cases a place to live but, if they give up the pork they've worked so hard to sneak into other Bills the voters may not put them back in Washington again. Why if we're united should say, Nevada, Colorado etc. help out other states with coast lines? Not they're problem. So in the end I'd like to say " Thanks so much to Congress for bringing this Country togeather".
